JFC organises, or takes part in, a number of events during the course of each
year. These include fundraising events and events relating to the Clubs
role in the local community. Regular events include:
Sportsmans Evening Boothstown JFC's most recent sportsman's evening was held in October 2004. All funds raised will go towards the Club's fundraising effort towards the Bridgewater Park development, and to the development of junior football in Boothstown. The guest speaker was former Premier League referee Jeff Winter. At our 2003 dinner the guest speaker was former England star Frank Worthington. In 2002 the Club's guest speaker was former Manchester United legend Norman Whiteside. Frank and Norman are pictured below:
Paul Mallon Memorial Match Paul was the founding Vice Chairman of Boothstown JFC. Paul tragically died in 1998, and each year a Boxing Day football match is played for the Paul Mallon Memorial Shield.
Presentation Night This event is held at the end of each season, and is attended by all players and their families. Individual awards are made under three categories for each of the Clubs teams. These are the Managers Player of the Year, the Players Player, and the Sportsmans Award. The latter is awarded by the team manager to the most deserving player. The Club Golden Boot award is also made on Presentation Night to the Clubs top scorer at competitive 11-a-side football. All of the Clubs players receive individual participation trophies at the Presentation Night. Social Events The Club arranges occasional social events to support fundraising. Details of future events will be posted on this web site. Boothstown Festival The Club always takes part in the Boothstown Festival Parade, traditionally held in June. Players from the younger end of the Club took part in the 2001 parade, and we awarded the prize for Best Walking Contingent. The photo here shows the Club float in the 2000 parade. |
