Boothstown Junior Football Club takes extremely seriously its responsibilities towards its young players. Current good practice guidelines aimed to protect and develop the Club’s players include :
  • All Club coaches are required to attend FA courses within 18 months of joining the coaching staff of the Club.
  • All Club coaches are encouraged to attend relevant emergency aid courses, and these are usually attended alongside FA courses.
  • All qualified coaches are encouraged to become members of the FA Coaches Association. The FACA operates a Child Protection Policy, and requires self-certification by members in respect of relevant issues
  • Parents of the younger age groups are encouraged to remain with their children during training sessions and at matches. Coaches are not expected, for example, to be responsible for the road-safety of children immediately before and after training and matches.
  • All players are advised on appropriate kit, including the compulsory wearing of shin-guards.
  • All coaches are advised of the need to be mindful of goalpost safety guidelines issued by the FA
  • All coaches are aware of that their primary responsibility is the provide young players with the opportunity to learn and to develop as footballers in a caring, supportive, and sporting context.
